Current Assessment
The DXY is the master switch for emerging-market capital flows. Sustained readings above 103 historically correlate with FII outflows from Indian equities and pressure on mid/small-cap segments, since a strong dollar drains dollar liquidity from the rest of the world and makes dollar-denominated funding more expensive. Readings below 100 tend to coincide with EM inflows and rupee strength.
Watch level: Below 101 for a reversal signal; above 105 marks an EM-stress zone.
About This Indicator
The DXY measures the US dollar's value against a basket of six major currencies (Euro, Yen, Pound, Canadian Dollar, Krona, Franc), base-100 since 1973. It is the single number that best summarizes global dollar liquidity conditions.
